Beam & Block Flooring

Placeholder

CCP Quicklay Beam & Block flooring is manufactured within an enclosed factory environment, and is wet cast in steel beds giving a superior finish and dimensional tolerance.

Specification
Prestressed 'T' Beams are manufactured in two depths, 155mm and 225mm with spans up to 6000mm and 8300mm achievable respectively to BS8110 1985.

Blocks
Blocks will generally be 440x215x100mm 3.5N/mm compressive strength with a density of 1800kg/m. Quicklay Beam and Block Flooring can also be designed to meet other varying block densities and dimensions providing that they have a transverse load capacity of 3.5kN on a 420mm span.

Floor Finishes
Once the floor has been grouted in, a variety of floor finishes can be applied. These may typically be insulation and chipboard, a 50mm sand and cement screed or a 65mm screed on insulation. However, provided that we are informed, whatever floor finishes are required can be catered for and designed into the scheme. Consideration should be given to camber when specifying floor finishes.

Garages
Garage floors and floors with a live load of 5.0kN/m will require a minimum 50mm screed reinforced with a layer of A142 mesh.

Delivery and Installation
Delivery is by a Hi-ab off-load lorry. Once the floor has been installed in accordance with the layout drawings supplied by Cornish Concrete Products Ltd, which can be in all but the most extreme weather conditions. Cornish Concrete Products Ltd can supply 380x100x38mm split bricks (for use with the 155mm deep Floor Beam) to complete the perimeter of the floor.

Grouting
When all the blocks have been installed, the floor should be grouted in with 4:1 sand: cement grout between the beams and blocks to complete the floor.

Camber
All prestressed units have a degree of upward camber. The degree of upward camber is dependant upon the span and the prestressing force. Levelling screeds may be required prior to laying floating floor finishes.

Upper Floors
Cornish Concrete Products can supply ceiling hangers (coverage 4 per m) so that battens can be nailed to the underside of the floor to which plasterboard is then fixed to create a suspended ceiling.
