At a top end residential development in exclusive Mayfair, we supplied double height vertical and raking columns (between 5th and 9th stories) to the external façade and internal courtyard spaces.
These elements formed part of the overall structural frame along with similarly etched permanent formwork units.
Cast in connections for the nodes for the external steel bracing were cast into the double height column units.
We also supplied matching spandrel cladding panels to the external façade.
All units were cast with a high strength black basalt mix with additional mica to create a sparkle in the acid etched units from a stent (china clay granite) sand. The mix was designed to meet the external exposure classes and yet preserve its architectural intent.
