We designed, supplied and installed two feature staircases for a new 9,350m² four storey office building which is located at BP’s International Centre for Business and Technology.
The two feature staircases were formed in high strength precast concrete elements connected by in-situ concrete stitches. Large, curved, tapered spine sections were connected via prestressed
Macalloy bars. These were then connected to curved flights and half-landing units.
All the precast units included rebates, recesses and cast-in conduit for lighting and balustrading.
These were all co-ordinated with the reinforcement and embedded steel sections to provide the necessary cover.
